Ashlee got a Tea Set for Christmas from Nanny (my grandmother). She made it for her.
The first thing Ashlee wanted to do was have a Tea Party with her Daddy. Ashlee invited her Uncle Clay, and Alex to join them. It was so cute!

Christmas Eve & Day

We had lots of fun and places to be. Lindsey's parents came early and stayed through Christmas this year. It was so nice to hangout and enjoy each other's company. Every year my family gets together on Christmas Eve and eat and exchange gifts. Then before we send the kids to bed they get to each open a present from us, new pj's, just a tradtion I decided to start a couple of years ago. Then they wake up to Santa and open those gifts and the gifts that Lindsey's parents brought. Then we head over to my parents to open more presents, and eat left over's for lunch. But this year when we got back home, we found more presents. A special Santa up were my in-laws live sent the kids some much need presents. The kids got gloves and hats, which have been put to good use this week! Thanks! And Thank you to all that helped make this a great Christmas!

Santa Greetings

The kids have seen Santa twice, and the Santa Cow from Chick-fil-A. It's so funny they tell me all the time that the Santa we see here is not the real one, he is at the North Pole. Kids are so cute! Alex is still not sure about Santa yet, maybe he will come around next year.

We first say Santa at Breakfast with Santa "early" Saturday morning. I noticed when I turned my camera on that my battery was low, of course, so I had to take quick shots of the kids.
And the wish list begins...

Santa gives each kid an ornament to put on their tree. Ashlee loves her girly Snowman ornament.

We went to Walmart after the Breakfast, and they had a Santa taking Free pics with the kids, so we took advantage of this. The guy playing Santa wasn't the best, but hey the kids had fun, and got candy after the pics.

I actually got Alex to sit on Santa's lap, yeah!

Ashlee insisted I take a pic with her and Santa, I didn't look the best that day, I had been up since 6:45am, so I was sooo tired, but I was a nice mommy and took the pic any way.

The night before all that happened we went to Chick-fil-A and took a Free pic with the Santa Cow, and Elf Cow. The kids thought they were so funny! We had some friends meet us there and we had a great time!

Now all we have left to do is wait for Santa to bring all the things he promised them, lol! Oh to be a kid again!

Halloween

So Halloween has come and gone another year. It was a busy one! We went to a Trunk r Treat Wednesday,
Fall Festival Thursday, and went to a party Saturday then attempted to trick r treat when it wasn't raining! It was yucky cold weather. I think the kids had the most fun just get dressed up in their costumes! :)

Alex was a Clown this year! Perfect for his personality!

Ashlee was Daphne from Scooby Doo!

Bryson was Captian Rex from Star Wars!

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween this year, and now it's off to Thanksgiving then Christmas. I am going to have Happy Holidays this year, and hope for no drama! Happy Holidays Everyone!

Wedding Cake

I made a wedding cake this week, and learned so much, but had loads of fun making it! I had a friend that was so kind to share a receipe that was given to her so many years ago. And I have to say it is one of the best cakes I have ever tasted, very rich! The wedding cake was Red Velvet 3 tiers, 3 layers in each tier, with a cream cheese frosting in between each layer and coated on the outside, then topped with a Marshmallow Fondant. You heard me MMF! It is quite tasty! Lots better than that other fondant. I had a friend that supplied the recipe for me. I never wanted to use fondant cause it tasted so bad, but with this recipe I will be able to lots of things. They pick Marine colors (Navy Blue, Red, and White). The ribbon is navy blue, with Red Roses.

It took three days to make it all, but it was worth it! It turned out beautiful!

I started first with making the fondant roses and leaves, which turned out better than I thought! I made 22, but really only used 11.

I used the aluminum foil to help shape the leaves as they dried.

I finished putting the MMF on the cakes. I didn't need to worry about the edges, cause a ribbon was going to be around the cakes, so that would cover it up.

Today I tried something new. One of my friends gave me a recipe for Marshmallow Fondant, so it out, since regular fondant tastes horrible! It was rather interesting as I made it, all the sticky gooey goodness in a bowl, lol! It was fun to play and work with. Ashlee helped make the white pearls (balls of fondant). That's the first time I made fondant roses, it was pretty easy and fun! I am going to try something new next weekend. I'm practicing for a friends wedding cake.

We love to play Rockband, and the kids really get into sometimes. I just happen to have my camera near by while Lindsey was playing, and Alex just went all out, singing and dancing, lol! He is too Cute!!!

Cookies and Cakes

One of my friend's graduated High School this past May and wanted me to bake him a cookie cake.

We invited the Missionaries over for dinner one night, and someone mentioned to them, the day before they are to come over, that I bake cakes. So they asked me to put one together for them. Since it was such short notice, my sister helped me put this one together.

We went to Chick-fil-a today for lunch, and it was Cow Appretiation Day. The kids helped me put together cow masks, and EAT MOR CHIKIN signs. We got free food, and had fun!

Garden Day 54

I'm so excited that I actually grew something, and it's eatable! Bryson brought a tomato plant home when school got out, and we were able to eat our first home grown tomato! Bryson was way excited!

Gardening Day 1

I don't garden! So let me tell you how I got to this point. Bryson comes with a tomato plant, so I bought potting soil to put it in a bigger pot, but I had so much extra soil I bought a pack of Bell Pepper seeds and got a big pot and planted them. The lady that sold them to me said, "Don't be surprised if they all don't grow." So having this new knowledge I decided to plant the whole packet of seeds in this one pot. I will tell you know, They All Grew! I didn't know what I was getting myself into! So I when they All sprouted I bought another pot and split them up, but after two weeks, they kept getting bigger! I do not have a place at my house to plant them, so my mother said I could use her flower bed that she has not used yet. So today began Day 1 of True Gardening! My sister Becca helped. It took us a little over two hours to dig and weed out the garden. Then another 1-2 hours to fertilize, plant, and water the garden. So here are some picks after all was said and done.

I will be happy if I can get one of these plants to produce bell peppers!

2nd Birthday

So we celebrated Alex's 2nd birthday today. His birthday is actually tomorrow, but we just had a small family gathering. Alex loves cars, so my sister Becca and I worked on a car cake (Lightening McQueen)

Alex loved it! He wanted to play with it like he does with the rest of his cars.

I love this age! He gets excited over the littlest things!

Weekend of Cakes

I have been working on several cakes this week and plan to do two more this weekend. My youngest son's birthday is Monday so I am going to work on a car cake for him. I will get a pic up as soon as it is done, but here are two cakes I finished. This cake was for my wards Relief Society Enrichment, we celebrated Relief Society's birthday, so I did the Logo for the cake.

This cake is for my friends Mary Kay Party.

Disney on Ice

We went to see Disney on Ice last night, and it was really good! I'm glad we were able to go.
We dressed Ashlee up as Snow White. She was so excited to go to the Princess Pre-Show!

During the show one of the acts had the "Cars", Alex loves cars! And he put his full atention on that show! It was cute! Every once in awhile he would point and yell Cars!!!. He would get so excited!

And yes of course we had to buy him a Lightening McQueen Car while we were there!

Bryson's Birthday!

Today is Bryson's Birthday and it was a busy one! Yesterday he wanted me to bring cupcakes to his class so I made him Spongebob Cupcakes!

Today we had his birthday party and my parents house. Man was it hot outside!!! We had fun cooking up some hamburgers and hotdogs! The kids loved the Spongebob Cake.

All in all it was a fun, but tiring day! We are all definantly going to bed early tonight!

Easter

The kids really liked Easter this year. They had two Easter Egg Hunts, one at church and one at the Grandparents house. And I have read several of my friends blogs and they have the Easter Bunny come on Saturday, so that there is not so much going on on Sunday, and I think I will adopt this tradition next year. I had been so busy all day Saturday before Easter and I totally forgot to set the kids stuff out from the Easter Bunny. So Bryson wakes up on Sunday and runs into my room, "Mom, the Easter Bunny didn't come!" I was like I can't believe I forgot! So I told him to go get dressed and we will worry about it later. So while he is getting dressed I quickly grab the kids baskets and fill them up (which I forgot to take a pic after all was said and done, go me!) and I set the baskets back in the playroom. Bryson comes in my room and says mom our Easter baskets are missing, have you seen them? I said I haven't seen them sorry. He starts looking through my room, and my bath room looking for the baskets, I'm like they are not in here. So goes off to finish getting ready. Later he comes running in my room and says, Mom I found the baskets and the Easter Bunny came!. I just smiled and said great, that was one sneaky bunny, lol! So Bryson decides to play Easter Bunny and takes his sister and brother's basket to their rooms, so when they woke up they would see them. They way kids think sometimes, just makes me laugh!

Dancing Baby

Fun in the Sun

We have been taking advantage of the nice weather we have been having, so I took the kids to the park the other day, and I actually remembered my camera to take pics. Ashlee loves to wall climb and they actually had one at the park so that made her day.

It has taken Alex a while, but I finally got him to like swinging. He really likes sliding, but that was a little harder to take a pic of.

Bryson pretty much could have cared less if we had went to the park. He would rather be inside playing video games, so I did get him to sit on a swing.

Rustle Up Some Grub

I got this idea from my friend Laura. I wanted to organize my recipe collection, but I also wanted to share my recipes with others. So I created another blog just for my recipes. Maybe this will get others to start their own recipe blogs, and we can all share our favorite recipes. And I find that there are some days when I just want to try something new or different for dinner, which I am sure others feel the same way. So this could help us change up our menus! :)

Wrestling Camp

So this week has been interesting. Bryson wanted to sign up for wrestling camp at school this week. Well, I have been trying to get him interested in something besides video games, so this was kinda out of the blue for me. Of course I said yes! He practiced Monday-Wednesday 3:30-4:30pm, and then on Thursday and Friday he had live matches. Thursday he won 1 match out of two, and Friday he lost 2, but I still think he should have one won on Friday, he was doing so good, then he got pinned. But it was fun for all of us. I think cause it was something different. I was impressed, Bryson did really good, for just 3 days of practice.

Snowy Fun Day!

We stayed the weekend in Birmingham, and had a blast. It was kind of our get away weekend, before Lindsey starts his new job next week. We had the kids stay at Lindsey's parents house in Gadsden, AL, about 45 min north of b'ham. It came time for us to pack and come home Sunday, but mother nature had other thing's in mind. Interstates were closing all around us, so we were finally able to get to our kids about 12:00. So while we waited for time to pass to open the roads we took pics of our car at the hotel, and some from the 4th floor. I even made a little snow man, who I named Mr. Pinky, hehe! The snow was beautiful in b'ham, it was all powder and so much fun to throw at my husband, lol! So after we got the kids I had nothing else better to do, while my husband was driving, so I took pics of all the snowy places we went through. When we got home the kids (including me) wanted to make a snowman, but the snow here in Phenix City was wet snow, so it was really cold, and didn't form very well, but we made and Alex size snowman, whom Alex did not like, lol! Hope everyone had a fun day!

Kitchen of Roses

I learned tonight how to cook with cayenne pepper!!! I made from scratch Cajun Red Beans and Rice (with sausage and shrimp). Well the recipe called for 2 tablespoons of cayenne pepper, well lets just say it was really good, buuuttt you had to take a bite, drink some milk, and then take a bite of the roll, and repeat :). The kids actually thought it was fun, like a game or something. So lets just say I should taste as I go when cooking with cayenne pepper, hehe!

I decided to practice my cake decorating skills today. I practice doing basket weave. It didn't turn out to bad for my first time. I topped it off with toffee and chocolate bites, yummy! I love decorating cakes, but the down fall is I have to eat it afterwards. It's such a hard task to do, but somebody has to do it, lol!

I then I got a really nice surprise from my sweet husband today. He brought home some white pink tipped roses! They are so pretty! He then to an extra step and bought some treats from the bakery at Publix.

Up's and Down's

The last couple of days, have had there good moments and bad moments. First I have had this stupid sinus cold for 2 weeks now. I hardly get any sleep, cause it keeps me up at night, which then cause sinus headaches, and headaches just cause of lack of sleep. Then it affects my eyes during the day. I never understood why it takes so long to get over a sinus cold. I remember one time I had one for almost 2 months, it would not go away! This weather is horrible! It's cold one minute and hot the next, and I wonder why I can't get over this sinus stuff.

Thursday was Ashlee's Birthday and she turned 4. I have come to a conclusion, kids always seem to act the worst on their birthdays! She was good all week, and then Thursday came, and then her true self shined! I was so glad when the day was over. I got her a couple more Barbie dolls to go with her collection. I even got her a Ken doll. I saw her playing house with her Barbie's and then she made them kiss, I then realized it was time to get her a Ken doll, lol! She opens the box to the Ken doll and she's wow, and then she realized it's a boy doll, and she's like what?! It was funny, so I told her why I got him for her, she understood, it was cute. The other to Barbie dolls she has sing songs and stuff, and Alex loves to make them sing, so he can sing with them. He walks around the house sing with Barbie, lol!We are having her party tomorrow, so we shall see how that goes. I am excited about baking the cake. Her theme is Strawberry Shortcake, so I made a Strawberry Shortcake's Hat Cake. Check out my slide show of cakes that I have made. I will gladly make a cake for anyone! So come up with and idea, and get with me and I will tell you if I can do it, and the price. I don't do it to make a lot of money, I just like to make and decorate cakes! I also do cupcakes, and cookie cakes!

The Game!

I still don't know why I continue to torture myself. I have been playing this game called 'My Buzz' with my husband,

but I go into playing this game knowing I'm going to lose. I always do, but yet I continue to play. I think it's the rush of hoping that I might win so I can have "some" bragging rights, lol! I love playing games with him, but yes there are times he will not play, just cause he knows he will bet me. I have to say his whole family is like that! Smarties!!! You should see them when they all get together and play games, they really take their game seriously, I love to watch!

Getting the hang of things :)

Ok I think I have figured this whole blog thing out, hehe! But I have to say my kids are not crazy about me being on this computer today. I could be sitting on the couch doing nothing and they will not bother me, but if I even reach for the computer, they have a come apart! I tested this theory today. I sat on the couch for about 30min to an hour, and watched them run around the house, playing, etc. I then went to the kitchen, grabbed a snack, and picked up the computer and then simultaneously Ashlee and Alex come racing to me crying. I put the computer back, never even got to turn it on, and sat there with my snack and did nothing, until it was time to put Alex down for his nap. Then I was able to get on here and add some touches.

I was able to go walking this morning, after dropping Bryson off at school. I loaded Ashlee and Alex into the wagon, stretched, and took off! It felt great to get outside and walk. I had a good rhythm going until November, when it started to get cold. I probably could have kept going, but it was to cold for the kids. So maybe now the weather will stay nice enough to walk.
